blind spot
"As many times as I blink I'll think of you... tonight.
I'll think of you tonight.
When violet eyes get brighter,
And heavy wings grow lighter,
I'll taste the sky and feel alive again.
And I'll forget the world that I knew,
But I swear I won't forget you,
Oh if my voice could reach back through the past,
I'd whisper in your ear,
Oh darling I wish you were here."
Owl City - Vanilla Twilight
There's something here... definitely something. Even when there's nothing left, absolutely nothing in sight, what is it that continues after everything else is gone?
Hmm... I think something beyond the tangible. You're not alone. Open your mind and see...
After all, it's all a race... a race without a destination. A race with struggles, hardships, and the occasional glimpse of the finish line. It's never a sprint in the beginning and it's never a trudge to the end. It's all about pacing. It's taking as much as you can while giving as much as you can. The endurance. The stamina. The integrity. This race has no destination, oh no... it sure doesn't.
It's only called a race because if we can't keep up with ourselves, we'll be disqualified. We can't quit when our body tells us to quit and we most certainly can't quit when we get tired. The show must go on. MUST. We can't just give up when there's no more track to run... we must improvise. I must improvise. I'll swim, bike, jump, hell, even fly... as long as I'm getting closer to the ultimate goal.
What if there's no swimming pool? No bike? No nothing? Well, there's no way a lack of something is going to dissuade me. We make it happen. We take what we are given and what we aren't given and make the best of it.
There's a finish line somewhere... and I've got my lucky sneakers on.
Bring it on.

even a little seed can still grow
"I'm taking a chance,
this could be different.
This could be all I'm waiting for.
Taking a chance,
this could be different.
This could be all I'm waiting for.
I wanted to see something that's different,
something you said would change in me.
Wanted to be anything different,
everything you would change in me."
-Different - Acceptance
Difference causes change. Change threatens chance. Difference is chance.
I wholeheartedly believe stupidity is the only catalyst for change. Intelligence is ignorant and subjective. Sometimes even the most simple things can escalate into unfathomable complexity due to overthinking.
Why think so hard when you can be stupid?
The law of parsimony, or better known as Ockham's Razor, states that the explanation of any phenomenon should make as few assumptions as possible, eliminating those that make no difference in the observable predictions of the explanatory hypothesis or theory. Or better phrased, Occam's razor would demand the acceptance of the simplest possible theoretical explanation for the existing problem.
Stupidity gives us the ability to do something different, something ridiculous, and most importantly, it gives us the ability to do what may just be right. So many achievements have been made possible by sheer luck and stupidity; doing things differently and unsystematically.
The key to life is not always about following the right paths, making the right choices, or even thinking about decisions. I believe the key to life is the adaption to the change, by changing.
Being stupid is making mistakes. Being stupid is saying the wrong things. Being stupid is not thinking. Being stupid is not doing anything. Being stupid is hoping for change, without action. Being stupid is failing to do the right thing.
But sometimes, being stupid is smart. Without failure, how can one possibly succeed or even see what is right? After all is said and done, true value arises from failure.
Sometimes to endure, we must turn our brain off, and focus on using our heart. Smart people may make the right choices, but can they endure? Sometimes to endure, we must not think about what is happening, but last until we can focus on what should happen.
Just like a little seed, placed in the harshest, driest environment; may lie dormant for years and years, until it has the chance to be bathed in a rare, tranquil rain, and be able to grow.
As long as there is something there, it still has a chance to grow. We aren't always able to be placed in favorable places, but we must always be able to learn and grow from it.
even a little seed can still grow!

Days, hours, memories...
How do we measure our days? By hours and minutes? By the seconds of realization and vulnerability? Or do we simply measure our days by memories? The unforgettable and defining moments in our lives?
Ultimately, at least in my eyes, it all comes down to the same thing. We are all looking for something, and most of the time we don't even know what we are looking for. Sometimes we just look to look; looking without any purpose other than just merely looking for something. Sometimes that something is tangible, most times it's intangible. Others rush to find both answers and questions, and others take their time. No matter what we seek or how we seek, we often forget to focus on things that we already have. We are always so busy looking for better or disbelieving that better exists that even the most careful and methodical people soon lose what they've had.
Life isn't about winning... It's about the search. There are so many battles to be fought and few wars to be won that we must pick our battles very carefully. People fight to be right, to be stronger, to prove something, to find themselves, but not many fight to learn. Learning to realize what to fight for--that's a truly difficult task.
To fight when the battle seems futile. To fight when there's nothing left to fight for. To fight when giving up is easier. To fight when fighting is your only option. To fight when everything and everyone is against you. To fight when fists aren't your weapons, but words and truth. To fight because otherwise you'd lose the world you worked so hard to create.
To fight when actions are louder than words.
Let me reiterate, life isn't about winning, it's about the search.
Things can be worth fighting for, but also things can be found. So, find something worth fighting for. Don't fight for something that can be found.
We are either created by a world, or we create our world. If we are created by a world, then some things just cannot be helped. We are enslaved by regulations, traditions, and codes. However, if we are lucky enough to create our world, then we must continue to strive and maintain this utopia. As individuals, we can only rely on ourselves, but when we find that constant in life, no matter what that may be, we can only hope to try and change our world to cater the constant and intertwine both paths as frequently as possible.
Let's make things different. Let's measure our days not by quantitative values, but by the frequency of smiles, laughs, and memories.
You'll soon realize how valuable things can really be, as long as you let them become valuable.

life as it is, life as it was
'Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swaps of the not quite, the not yet, and the not at all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists. It is real. It is possible. It is yours.'
Don't we all wish we could go back in time and fix something or change what we have?
Maybe we'd go back in time and invest our life savings in google. Maybe we'd go back in time and tolerate just a little more time and energy in that one relationship you wish you never ended. Maybe we'd go back in time just to experience our youth one more time.
Fact: Time machines don't exist. They never did, and hopefully never will (although, you never know about such things anymore).
The irony is that we've lived on this planet all of our lives, each and every single breathing moment, yet not one of us has gotten any closer to knowing what life is about. We've never crossed galaxies, planet surfed, or even flown above 10,000 feet in the air. But besides extraterrestrial pipe dreams, we experience life in a first person perspective. We don't have the luxury of being right or wrong, it ultimately doesn't matter. The only absolute thing on this planet are numbers. Everything else can be elastic and interchanging. Flipping a coin never comes out to be a precise 50/50 chance. There's never a 100% chance that you're going to make it alive coming out of each day. Cliche or not, we must live each day to its fullest; take every single opportunity and smile because you can.
So, if we really have lived our lives on our own accord, then tell me, why has every single person on this planet wished they could have gone back in time maybe once, if not a thousand times? Life isn't perfect, and that's ultimate perfection. We dream when we're asleep and when we are awake, we must attain those dreams. Each mistake and each fault is to our own favor. The reason we can't go back in time to fix the things we wish we could is simply because those defining moments decide how we treat our lives after the unthinkable happens. The meaning of life may not ever be discovered, as it may just merely be to reproduce. However, as far as I know, life is all about making the decisions no one has to think about; to be the one who can change and adapt to the always changing terrain and face of life. We're living life as it happens, and the past stays the past. Things change.
Maybe we'll always wish to go back in time, but wishing for things never leads you anywhere. They always tell you that after time, things get better... but that's just a load of bullshit. It's what you do with that time that decides if things get better or not. To be honest, I don't ever want to travel back in time because each mistake and fault has made me a better person... and made me more understanding, patient, and wise. Each decision we make is final, there is no going back. There's no undo button, and there's certainly no chance for you to change what has happened.
We can always be scared of the possibilities and the past, but we can't always let that affect our future. Besides, where would you go if you're always running scared? Some things in life are worth staying put for; some things in life are worth standing up for. There will always be a thin line between stupidity and devotion, but as long as know where the line is, somehow we'll be in the clear.
Stay for the things that have made you happy. Stay for the things have make you happy. Stay for the things that will make you happy.
Because as far as I know, there's no going back.

sequential trepidation
It's a belief that fear inhibits. However, no matter how many people believe in something, it does not justify it or validate it. The trauma culminates into a heightened sense of primed delusion.
Fear is a means of realization, in it's pure form. If you let fear test you, then you have lost. Fear is a limitation, and a mild one at that. We must transcend above the common front and wield the raw power that fear possesses. Fear can be motivation and an unrelenting force that continues to drive us today. Once we're scared beyond capacity, then we able to re-evaluate what has to be done. If the labor is worth the produce, then we must continue. Invest in a purpose, not a desire.
Fear strikes deep in the heart, and the pain is agonizing; sometimes paralyzing. Yet, it gives us a chance to fathom what ultimately matters.
Fear is clarity.
Then why is it that fear always stops us? If fear has the potential to amplify our deep, true necessities... then how come it can overcome our logic?
Don't let fear be your excuse; let it be your driving force.

additive admonition
Jack's Mannequin - Hammer And Strings
"Give me something to believe in,
So write it down,
I don't think that I'll close my eyes
'Cause lately I'm not dreaming
So what's the point in sleeping?
It's just that at night,
I've got nowhere to hide"
------------------------------------------------
In an increasingly mundane world, it's amazing how all these iridescent beacons of light can be so quick to succumb to the dark void.
As complex individuals, we tend to forget how paltry our routines are. Behind the forged masks, we are completely engulfed in our lifestyle and fail to recognize how much we lack as opposed to what we can achieve and obtain. We are painfully selfish, naive, and ignorant. Sadly, no matter how complex we are, we still find it easy to crowd around instability and insecurity. It's funny how parallel our lives can be with insects. Much like mindless drones, we find a single bright beacon of light and continue to gather around this light constantly... regardless of all the painful zaps and shocks. We construct our lives around this falsehood, but is it actually easy to realize the futile efforts when it's our only constant in life? Only when we find ourselves in such darkness, the existence of such a beam of 'hope' finds its beguiled target through deceit and unforgiving truths. All from a single beacon of light, a single light.
Transposing ourselves onto a golden pedestal; believing we are so invulnerable from all the mistakes and truths that surround us; therein lies the fallacy of striving for life. We are so committed to our lifestyle that we become so weak, so prone to unknown failures and faults. Apathy and denial only fuel the deep embers of this self inflicted realm of surreality.
I guess the limits we set for ourselves goes without notice until we pass these limits. The only truth we can hold onto, would have to be laden in nostalgia.
but in the end... the very unrelenting end, what can we rely on? the people around us or the voice inside us? I know that people will always be around for reasons unbeknownst to us. But ultimately, it relies on us to accept the help of those around us and to let ourselves become real and tangible. To exist.

black honesty, white lies
"At this moment there are 6,470,818,671 people in the world. Some are running scared. Some are coming home. Some tell lies to make it through the day. Others are just now facing the truth. Some are evil men, at war with good. And some are good, struggling with evil. Six billion people in the world. Six billion souls. And sometimes -- all you need is one." -One Tree Hill
The most cynical thing about life is how we find it so hard to compromise. We're so vulnerable to vicious cycles and prone to self-inflicted agony.
We're all out to get something. Let it be monetary, emotional, and/or physical satisfaction. Outside, we may seem to perfectly fine and selfless. However, on the inside, we may be the most insatiable fiend out there. It's all due to our cumulative growth and our lifetime experiences that shapes who we are, but sometimes we forget who we truly are. We may live life on one of the two sides; we may be the power hungry control freak, or the weak, shackled captive. The fact is, sometimes we are so ignorant that we seem to temporarily lose ourselves to fleeting desires. We tend to continue to give ourselves away, until there is absolutely nothing left to give. And the truth is, no one in our lives will ever be worth that much. No one.
We can't fall for the same trap twice. It's our responsibility to learn from our mistakes and to own our mistakes; to holster them on our belt of burden. We must carry our own weight, because no one else will ever carry that weight for you. Going through the excruciating pain of realizing the truth and seeing through people is worth making all the mistakes; no matter how big or small. We must emulate our true identity and emit our sorrows and joys to shine as bright as possible. Only then... are we ever going to be happy who we are. We must be wise enough to let go of the people we deem hazards and we must be honest enough to let the people who we deem companions.
There doesn't need to be a holiday to aid us in the reverence for what we are thankful for. Every single day of our lives, we must appreciate every single little thing. But, most importantly, we must be honest to ourselves. We can't settle for less and we can't ask for more. Be happy with what you have.
Be happy with all the people we surround ourselves with.
Be happy with all the things we have obtained.
Be happy with all the places we've been.
So make those compromises, because where is our pride going to lead us with exception to a dark abyss of self engulfing anguish? And learn from each and every single mistake, otherwise your efforts have gone in vain.
YMMH.
