lost anonymity

under those dark black bars
we're all the same, searching for stars
above these clouds of gray, we look for many miles
we're all the same, seeking for those lovely smiles

alone or not alone, we progress
after all, who's to say we should care less?
alone or not alone, we digress
after all, who's the say we got into this mess?

under those dark black bars
we're all the same, wishing upon the stars
above these clouds of gray, we go through many trials
we're all the same, seeking for those lovely smiles

my wallet

wallets.

whether it be a bifold, trifold, or a money clip, wallets come limitless varieties. so what does your wallet mean to you? you might be the type to have three different wallets for everyday use, or the type that always needs a new, better wallet.

me? I just stick to my old trusty wallet. The same one I've had for over 4 years. Sure, it may be worn down, ripped in several places, but it fits perfectly in my left pocket. I've had the liberty to try almost every single wallet, but they're nothing compared to MY wallet. The gift cards, credit cards, debit cards, driver's license, and special keepsakes just don't fit in the same places as they would in my trusty wallet. Everything is just out of order, not to mention that it'll just feel awkward in my pocket.

my wallet is special. I remember the first bills I spent with it. I remember the first credit and debit cards I put in it. I remember the first time I got it dirty with ketchup. I remember the first time I tried replacing it. I remember the time I lost it. And I still remember all the times I could always count on my wallet to be in my left pocket; right where I left it. This wallet... oh boy, the good times and the bad times. We went through it all.

At the end of the day, we all see good wallets and bad wallets, we all see expensive wallets and cheap wallets, and we can all hopefully see the one wallet we wish to keep. The familiar feel of it against your hand... the way you can always get your wallet out without having to look. It's as if your wallet belongs in your pocket, and yours only. That's what keeps my wallet close to me. It belongs with me, as there will only be one trusty wallet. Forget the imitations and the fakes. Be happy with your wallet, even if sometimes the change falls out or the receipts blow out. Don't forget what it's good at. Don't forget those memorable moments. As for me, I love my wallet. I'll keep it safe in my left pocket as long as I can.

blind spot

"As many times as I blink I'll think of you... tonight.

I'll think of you tonight.

When violet eyes get brighter,
And heavy wings grow lighter,
I'll taste the sky and feel alive again.
And I'll forget the world that I knew,
But I swear I won't forget you,
Oh if my voice could reach back through the past,
I'd whisper in your ear,
Oh darling I wish you were here."

Owl City - Vanilla Twilight

There's something here... definitely something. Even when there's nothing left, absolutely nothing in sight, what is it that continues after everything else is gone?

Hmm... I think something beyond the tangible. You're not alone. Open your mind and see...

After all, it's all a race... a race without a destination. A race with struggles, hardships, and the occasional glimpse of the finish line. It's never a sprint in the beginning and it's never a trudge to the end. It's all about pacing. It's taking as much as you can while giving as much as you can. The endurance. The stamina. The integrity. This race has no destination, oh no... it sure doesn't.

It's only called a race because if we can't keep up with ourselves, we'll be disqualified. We can't quit when our body tells us to quit and we most certainly can't quit when we get tired. The show must go on. MUST. We can't just give up when there's no more track to run... we must improvise. I must improvise. I'll swim, bike, jump, hell, even fly... as long as I'm getting closer to the ultimate goal.

What if there's no swimming pool? No bike? No nothing? Well, there's no way a lack of something is going to dissuade me. We make it happen. We take what we are given and what we aren't given and make the best of it.

There's a finish line somewhere... and I've got my lucky sneakers on.

Bring it on.

even a little seed can still grow

"I'm taking a chance,
this could be different.
This could be all I'm waiting for.
Taking a chance,
this could be different.
This could be all I'm waiting for.

I wanted to see something that's different,
something you said would change in me.
Wanted to be anything different,
everything you would change in me."
-Different - Acceptance

Difference causes change. Change threatens chance. Difference is chance.

I wholeheartedly believe stupidity is the only catalyst for change. Intelligence is ignorant and subjective. Sometimes even the most simple things can escalate into unfathomable complexity due to overthinking.

Why think so hard when you can be stupid?

The law of parsimony, or better known as Ockham's Razor, states that the explanation of any phenomenon should make as few assumptions as possible, eliminating those that make no difference in the observable predictions of the explanatory hypothesis or theory. Or better phrased, Occam's razor would demand the acceptance of the simplest possible theoretical explanation for the existing problem.

Stupidity gives us the ability to do something different, something ridiculous, and most importantly, it gives us the ability to do what may just be right. So many achievements have been made possible by sheer luck and stupidity; doing things differently and unsystematically.

The key to life is not always about following the right paths, making the right choices, or even thinking about decisions. I believe the key to life is the adaption to the change, by changing.

Being stupid is making mistakes. Being stupid is saying the wrong things. Being stupid is not thinking. Being stupid is not doing anything. Being stupid is hoping for change, without action. Being stupid is failing to do the right thing.

But sometimes, being stupid is smart. Without failure, how can one possibly succeed or even see what is right? After all is said and done, true value arises from failure.

Sometimes to endure, we must turn our brain off, and focus on using our heart. Smart people may make the right choices, but can they endure? Sometimes to endure, we must not think about what is happening, but last until we can focus on what should happen.

Just like a little seed, placed in the harshest, driest environment; may lie dormant for years and years, until it has the chance to be bathed in a rare, tranquil rain, and be able to grow.

As long as there is something there, it still has a chance to grow. We aren't always able to be placed in favorable places, but we must always be able to learn and grow from it.

even a little seed can still grow!

Days, hours, memories...

How do we measure our days? By hours and minutes? By the seconds of realization and vulnerability? Or do we simply measure our days by memories? The unforgettable and defining moments in our lives?

Ultimately, at least in my eyes, it all comes down to the same thing. We are all looking for something, and most of the time we don't even know what we are looking for. Sometimes we just look to look; looking without any purpose other than just merely looking for something. Sometimes that something is tangible, most times it's intangible. Others rush to find both answers and questions, and others take their time. No matter what we seek or how we seek, we often forget to focus on things that we already have. We are always so busy looking for better or disbelieving that better exists that even the most careful and methodical people soon lose what they've had.

Life isn't about winning... It's about the search. There are so many battles to be fought and few wars to be won that we must pick our battles very carefully. People fight to be right, to be stronger, to prove something, to find themselves, but not many fight to learn. Learning to realize what to fight for--that's a truly difficult task.

To fight when the battle seems futile. To fight when there's nothing left to fight for. To fight when giving up is easier. To fight when fighting is your only option. To fight when everything and everyone is against you. To fight when fists aren't your weapons, but words and truth. To fight because otherwise you'd lose the world you worked so hard to create.

To fight when actions are louder than words.

Let me reiterate, life isn't about winning, it's about the search.

Things can be worth fighting for, but also things can be found. So, find something worth fighting for. Don't fight for something that can be found.

We are either created by a world, or we create our world. If we are created by a world, then some things just cannot be helped. We are enslaved by regulations, traditions, and codes. However, if we are lucky enough to create our world, then we must continue to strive and maintain this utopia. As individuals, we can only rely on ourselves, but when we find that constant in life, no matter what that may be, we can only hope to try and change our world to cater the constant and intertwine both paths as frequently as possible.

Let's make things different. Let's measure our days not by quantitative values, but by the frequency of smiles, laughs, and memories.

You'll soon realize how valuable things can really be, as long as you let them become valuable.

life as it is, life as it was

'Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swaps of the not quite, the not yet, and the not at all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists. It is real. It is possible. It is yours.'

Don't we all wish we could go back in time and fix something or change what we have?

Maybe we'd go back in time and invest our life savings in google. Maybe we'd go back in time and tolerate just a little more time and energy in that one relationship you wish you never ended. Maybe we'd go back in time just to experience our youth one more time.

Fact: Time machines don't exist. They never did, and hopefully never will (although, you never know about such things anymore).

The irony is that we've lived on this planet all of our lives, each and every single breathing moment, yet not one of us has gotten any closer to knowing what life is about. We've never crossed galaxies, planet surfed, or even flown above 10,000 feet in the air. But besides extraterrestrial pipe dreams, we experience life in a first person perspective. We don't have the luxury of being right or wrong, it ultimately doesn't matter. The only absolute thing on this planet are numbers. Everything else can be elastic and interchanging. Flipping a coin never comes out to be a precise 50/50 chance. There's never a 100% chance that you're going to make it alive coming out of each day. Cliche or not, we must live each day to its fullest; take every single opportunity and smile because you can.

So, if we really have lived our lives on our own accord, then tell me, why has every single person on this planet wished they could have gone back in time maybe once, if not a thousand times? Life isn't perfect, and that's ultimate perfection. We dream when we're asleep and when we are awake, we must attain those dreams. Each mistake and each fault is to our own favor. The reason we can't go back in time to fix the things we wish we could is simply because those defining moments decide how we treat our lives after the unthinkable happens. The meaning of life may not ever be discovered, as it may just merely be to reproduce. However, as far as I know, life is all about making the decisions no one has to think about; to be the one who can change and adapt to the always changing terrain and face of life. We're living life as it happens, and the past stays the past. Things change.

Maybe we'll always wish to go back in time, but wishing for things never leads you anywhere. They always tell you that after time, things get better... but that's just a load of bullshit. It's what you do with that time that decides if things get better or not. To be honest, I don't ever want to travel back in time because each mistake and fault has made me a better person... and made me more understanding, patient, and wise. Each decision we make is final, there is no going back. There's no undo button, and there's certainly no chance for you to change what has happened.

We can always be scared of the possibilities and the past, but we can't always let that affect our future. Besides, where would you go if you're always running scared? Some things in life are worth staying put for; some things in life are worth standing up for. There will always be a thin line between stupidity and devotion, but as long as know where the line is, somehow we'll be in the clear.

Stay for the things that have made you happy. Stay for the things have make you happy. Stay for the things that will make you happy.

Because as far as I know, there's no going back.

sequential trepidation

It's a belief that fear inhibits. However, no matter how many people believe in something, it does not justify it or validate it. The trauma culminates into a heightened sense of primed delusion.

Fear is a means of realization, in it's pure form. If you let fear test you, then you have lost. Fear is a limitation, and a mild one at that. We must transcend above the common front and wield the raw power that fear possesses. Fear can be motivation and an unrelenting force that continues to drive us today. Once we're scared beyond capacity, then we able to re-evaluate what has to be done. If the labor is worth the produce, then we must continue. Invest in a purpose, not a desire.

Fear strikes deep in the heart, and the pain is agonizing; sometimes paralyzing. Yet, it gives us a chance to fathom what ultimately matters.

Fear is clarity.

Then why is it that fear always stops us? If fear has the potential to amplify our deep, true necessities... then how come it can overcome our logic?

Don't let fear be your excuse; let it be your driving force.

additive admonition

Jack's Mannequin - Hammer And Strings

"
Give me something to believe in,
So write it down,
I don't think that I'll close my eyes
'Cause lately I'm not dreaming
So what's the point in sleeping?
It's just that at night,
I've got nowhere to hide
"

------------------------------------------------
In an increasingly mundane world, it's amazing how all these iridescent beacons of light can be so quick to succumb to the dark void.

As complex individuals, we tend to forget how paltry our routines are. Behind the forged masks, we are completely engulfed in our lifestyle and fail to recognize how much we lack as opposed to what we can achieve and obtain. We are painfully selfish, naive, and ignorant. Sadly, no matter how complex we are, we still find it easy to crowd around instability and insecurity. It's funny how parallel our lives can be with insects. Much like mindless drones, we find a single bright beacon of light and continue to gather around this light constantly... regardless of all the painful zaps and shocks. We construct our lives around this falsehood, but is it actually easy to realize the futile efforts when it's our only constant in life? Only when we find ourselves in such darkness, the existence of such a beam of 'hope' finds its beguiled target through deceit and unforgiving truths. All from a single beacon of light, a single light.

Transposing ourselves onto a golden pedestal; believing we are so invulnerable from all the mistakes and truths that surround us; therein lies the fallacy of striving for life. We are so committed to our lifestyle that we become so weak, so prone to unknown failures and faults. Apathy and denial only fuel the deep embers of this self inflicted realm of surreality.

I guess the limits we set for ourselves goes without notice until we pass these limits. The only truth we can hold onto, would have to be laden in nostalgia.

but in the end... the very unrelenting end, what can we rely on? the people around us or the voice inside us? I know that people will always be around for reasons unbeknownst to us. But ultimately, it relies on us to accept the help of those around us and to let ourselves become real and tangible. To exist.

black honesty, white lies

"At this moment there are 6,470,818,671 people in the world. Some are running scared. Some are coming home. Some tell lies to make it through the day. Others are just now facing the truth. Some are evil men, at war with good. And some are good, struggling with evil. Six billion people in the world. Six billion souls. And sometimes -- all you need is one." -One Tree Hill

The most cynical thing about life is how we find it so hard to compromise. We're so vulnerable to vicious cycles and prone to self-inflicted agony.

We're all out to get something. Let it be monetary, emotional, and/or physical satisfaction. Outside, we may seem to perfectly fine and selfless. However, on the inside, we may be the most insatiable fiend out there. It's all due to our cumulative growth and our lifetime experiences that shapes who we are, but sometimes we forget who we truly are. We may live life on one of the two sides; we may be the power hungry control freak, or the weak, shackled captive. The fact is, sometimes we are so ignorant that we seem to temporarily lose ourselves to fleeting desires. We tend to continue to give ourselves away, until there is absolutely nothing left to give. And the truth is, no one in our lives will ever be worth that much. No one.

We can't fall for the same trap twice. It's our responsibility to learn from our mistakes and to own our mistakes; to holster them on our belt of burden. We must carry our own weight, because no one else will ever carry that weight for you. Going through the excruciating pain of realizing the truth and seeing through people is worth making all the mistakes; no matter how big or small. We must emulate our true identity and emit our sorrows and joys to shine as bright as possible. Only then... are we ever going to be happy who we are. We must be wise enough to let go of the people we deem hazards and we must be honest enough to let the people who we deem companions.

There doesn't need to be a holiday to aid us in the reverence for what we are thankful for. Every single day of our lives, we must appreciate every single little thing. But, most importantly, we must be honest to ourselves. We can't settle for less and we can't ask for more. Be happy with what you have.

Be happy with all the people we surround ourselves with.
Be happy with all the things we have obtained.
Be happy with all the places we've been.

So make those compromises, because where is our pride going to lead us with exception to a dark abyss of self engulfing anguish? And learn from each and every single mistake, otherwise your efforts have gone in vain.

Foolish Devotion

John Legend - Save Room

"This just might hurt a little
Love hurts sometimes when you do it right
Don't be afraid of a little bit of pain
Pleasure is on the other side

Let down your guard just a little
I'll keep you safe in these arms of mine
Hold on to me - pretty baby
You will see I can be all you need

If you stay, won't you stay - stay"

"Have Patience"
Two simple words placed together become something so much more.

What truly eludes me is the fact that 'the whole is more than the sum of its parts'. No matter how easy something is to build, it's the time and the effort that really makes it worth so much more.

A little heartfelt, scribbled note goes much farther than simple ink on simple paper.
A small, endearing plushie goes much farther than simple fluff in simple fabric.
A short, quick trip to see someone goes much farther than simple words.
...and so on and so forth.

So let these simple words become something much more. Let all the things in your life become something more. We're all ordinary people looking for something extraordinary, so where do we... as ordinary people draw the line? Honestly, I think the lines draw themselves and we try so hard to conform to these simple, yet complex boundaries and limitations. As ordinary people, the only thing we can be judged on is our decisions. No matter how void or saturated of emotions we are, who is to know when you are unable to express? Vivid words, evoking pictures, fleeting moments, and precious time all speak for themselves. We become the beacon of understanding and open our minds and hearts to feel what is being expressed.

But when it comes down to us, we have an unimaginably difficult time expressing what we truly feel. So can we actually find something extraordinary or are we chasing false dreams of something greater? We're always looking for better, something ultimately so captivating we forget everything else in the midst of the moment. This is where we fail. The moments we continue searching for are nonexistent. What's so hard about appreciating what you have? The best friends, the significant other, the unforgettable moments, and everything else we have. We don't deserve anything better or worse... we only deserve what we feel we deserve.

Yet, we're always encumbered by the belief that we are in a struggle. That we don't deserve this, we won't deserve that. Well, if we are getting things by being who we really are.. then yes, you do deserve it. If you didn't deserve it, you wouldn't be getting it. The only thing we can hope for is to not take anything for granted. No matter how secure everything seems, it just takes a simple mistake to demolish everything.

One mistake.
One word.
One action.
One misunderstanding.

Seems quite unfair that everything looks as if it's all against us, doesn't it? After all, we only have ONE chance. Yet, there are an infinite number of mistakes to be made to ruin that one chance. Chances are never given; they are earned through hard work and determination.
That once we find the one thing we're all looking for, just promise yourself that you'll work your hardest for that one thing. That you'll never even think about taking it for granted. That you'll never lose sight of it. That you'll never ever ever ever give up. That's what gives everything in our life value. The struggles we went through to keep these things close to us.

However, once we do lose it, we tend to pick at ourselves and search for ways to forget about everything. We tend to exaggerate and harbor hatred for what ruined the very thing we valued most. The only thing we can do in such situations is understand. We can't blame anyone, but we can still try our hardest to earn what we lost once again. No matter how disastrous something has become, there will always be hope to mend what has been broken. If there is a will, there is a way.

So, have patience. Easy enough right?

Dare to dream

Boyce Avenue - Change Your Mind

"There you are with your perfect way
You’ve got that little shine in your eyes
To hear one word would make my day
But there’s no room for me in your life

Oh you’ve got me down on my knees
Oh and in my mind I can see
How perfect everything could be
But you won’t give us a try

If I could change your mind
How would you want me
Would you say you need me
Cause I need you now

I try to move on but your perfect way
Has got this little child asking why
But this world keeps spinning
As my heart stops beating
Is there still no room inside"

We're all so caught up in everything we see in all these dramatic television shows, movies, and fictional novels that we soon forget what goes through our own lives. We're so quick to forget how tangible reality is and turn to an outlet of fake dialogues and characters. And once we do find what we're looking for, we adopt an apathetic visage. We don't see things through and believe what we hold will always be there. Because when we all finally fall asleep dreaming of what is truly right, we sleep right through what we had. Because when your eyes are closed you don't really see... you feel. And we're all scared to be true to ourselves that maybe in the process of chasing our intangible dreams, we'll lose a bit of who you were. We're all scared because we have this surreal expectation that things can only get better and overlook things when they are at the best. We can't expect the best, we can only expect what's real. In our little minds, we try so hard to continue to see things through a narrow tunnel that we forget what's really happening outside. Once that narrow tunnel closes, we can't hope to see a picture because our hearts can't adjust like our eyes can. Once all is lost, we can only see part of the whole picture. We immortalize foolishness and embody failure as a guiding light. This guiding light is the most powerful beacon of self revival that we, ourselves, may be blinded.

I know that, I, myself... have been blinded by this light and that I've found myself looking at a picture that's been burned into the back of my mind. That I was straining my eyes looking at what I had and slowly lost sight of what I have. That once the picture stood for nothing but memories and that once upon a time it was something so much more.

We're all living a life of transitions. We make transitions both consciously and unconsciously. Sometimes we find ourselves shaking our heads at what we used to be and praising who we are and how far we've come. That's the most vivid deceit in the non-fictional book of life. Who we are is only constructed on who we were. How far we've come isn't ever measured by a distance, it's only measured by endurance. It's measured by endurance because if we measure things by a distance, we'll soon figure out the finish line is coming up and find ourselves wondering what comes next. If we measure how far we've come by endurance, we can only hope to make bigger strides in life... and to leap over all the hurdles. We can only hope to endure. We can only hope to better ourselves. We can only hope to find a path, not a finish line. We can only hope that all these people we run with can keep up with our strides. But that's the best part of being together... we'll all pace ourselves and to help each other improve.

Together isn't a word, it's a phrase. Being together is not simply a verb, it's a lifestyle. We overlook the simple three words that form together. To be together is simply to-get-her. Easy right? No.
How can we all be together when we lose just one word of the three?

To. To try your best and to realize things will never be perfect... that we're only hoping for failure when we look for the best. But when we look for imperfections, we can only look for what we have.

Get. To get. To get what we owe to ourselves. To truly become what we see in life. We must get things through principle and not trying to grasp onto material things. Because as soon as it's tangible, it can be broken. When we make the transition from intangible to tangible, we forget that from the very start of things, we've always had control of what we held. That when we make the effort to try and keep it where it was... to clench it in your weak hands that it just might slip right through your fingers.

And finally. That last part of together. Her. We all need a her or a him. Need not as a material need, but a conscious need that without him or her... we can't find who we ARE. When we are with that person, we can smile because it's always worth it. Everything we built together is worth it. That things will always improve if you volunteer your trust, your needs, and your value to create something with much more worth than yourself. To invest something more... to watch your investment grow day to day. Like every investment, we need to know how much we're willing to risk and how much profit to expect. We can't let the individual deficits shadow the overall value and growth. A bad day is a bad day, that's it. We can't let a bad day become a trend. Because to. get. her. is truly together. It's all about synergy. Better yourself because you owe it to yourself and no one else.

because in my mind, we're all looking for something to happen. but as soon as we expect something to happen, we watch ourselves overlook the things that already happened.

live your life knowing one phrase...

KEEP WHAT MAKES YOU SMILE!

Complacency

Our lives are our own uncontrollable manifestations of false virtue, innate vice, and lost vitality.

We, as pinnacles of self success, fight the hardest and most enduring battles when we begin to give too much of our self away. Every piece of us is a time lapse through the vivid experiences, and when we lose those parts of us slowly... we begin to forget who we were and only see the future through blurry lens. We borrow time from questionable outlets to only begin our journey into the void. We tend to lose integrity when the crystalline truths we constructed begin to become tainted establishments of forgotten virtues. All we have established may only last long enough for a simple glimpse. When our longest lasting constructs become a self engulfing misery of memories, we tend to forget all about amnesty and look for the quickest escape. Little did we know, the shortest path only leads to a dead end that becomes a vicious circle that we've can only show us who we really are.

We're all born on the same ethereal plane we call life. Ironically, life is analogous to everything. It's the bane of living and the gift of life. We need time to break down the strongest bonds to rebuild our weaker bonds. Here, we find ourselves living a life of seeking equilibrium. As a vassal of these vices, we can only hope to finally deceive ourselves that everything is not okay. Because when things are okay, that's when things get out of hand. We only believe what we hold true. Every single person wields the deceptive power of words. We're born on the same ethereal plane we call life, and that life is only true when we find the complete polar opposite it makes it all the better. Because it's all the same in the end... we can live it, love it, or rip it apart.

The only strengths we find in our self destructive tenancies are the right people. However, these same people can both lead you on the right path or shake your very foundations and leave you in the dust. That either way, we can find the right path to get back on track. Maybe we all need our bumps along the way to remind us of what we have and how valuable those things were and how valuable they are. Those bumps, not matter what size, can only remind us of how things used to be and how out of controls things can easily get when you forget yourself and the very values and virtues and vices we once had in the right place. The times we had it all going right and when we could smile because everything wasn't just dandy.. but everything was in the right place. The people we find along the way of life can only be the vitality of what we hold to be true and what we tend to forget can be true. So in essence, don't lose what you have. Let the wrongdoings lead you to remember what used to be.

because I'd rather be working for a paycheck... then waiting to win the lottery.
